Greetings and happy early Thanksgiving everyone. Just wanted to check in and try to keep this semi regular posting going. We’ve had a couple productive practices up in Austin last week and are chugging along finishing the songs for the next full length record. The plan is to find a place to occupy for about a week and just record without too much distraction. This week’s media selection is an iphone recording of one of the songs that will probably be on the record. It’s Zac and I jamming in the garage of the duplex months and months ago and is actually the very first time the “song” was ever played. So there you have it, the recorded birth of a song. Hope you enjoy.

when the drummer is away? Synth. Lots of it. haha- Actually, we got together in Zac’s absence to work out some of the new songs acoustically in preparation for some upcoming recording sessions. With no fat beats to rely on, we’re forced to figure out the more subtle themes and movement of each song. That was the idea, anyways. We figured out some new sections to songs, and brought in our friend Johnny, a talented and creative writer among other things, to listen and perhaps create some short stories and themes to inspire and accompany the music. I brought my newly beefed up recording rig to capture what happened. The following excerpt comes from the later part of the evening when the acoustic guitars went away and the synths came out. The drum machine sound comes from Chris’s Omnichord. Just a jam- check it out

Hello everyone. We’re trying to post more things on here, so we’ll start with this. It’s a newish song tentatively titled Di Di and featuring our friend Dialect free styling a verse. Expect some more audio/video soon. We’re getting ready to record the next full length and still trying to finish up that EP we started so long ago.

Local news site newstreamz.com reviewed our 2007 album, Big Light. Check it out at http://newstreamz.com/2009/01/28/record-reviews-three-more-san-marcos-bands. They have a great “scene” section that covers a lot of local music- cool.
We’re not playing shows for a couple months, but rest assured that we’re not letting Three Leaf fall. We’re practicing more and working harder than ever! We don’t want to play another show until we can reveal a totally new set of songs. Refraining from playing shows frees us up to concentrate on nurturing all this new material.
Don’t know if the band will ever play this, but here’s an mp3 I recorded a couple weeks ago- enjoy.

Hello everyone. If you’re reading this, you are the most loyal of loyal friends and family. Or you’ve stumbled in on accident. Either way, we’re glad you’re here. We have not been very good as an internet entity as of late, and for that we’re sorry. We’ve made weekly posts from various public libraries along the Mississippi and painfully slow internet cafes in Ghana, yet somehow with all the technology of home, we haven’t managed to keep up with this site lately. The band is going through a pretty big transition right now. Roles are changing and focus is shifting. We’re not going to be playing any shows for a couple months while we figure this new sound out and prepare it for public consumption. During this time however, we will be posting here. New sounds and ideas. We can’t wait to share them with you. The pictures below are from our show last weekend at The Triple Crown, courtesy of Ashley Bird. You’ll hear from us soon.
