Hey everybody- we haven’t posted in a while, but we have been practicing a lot!  With the San Marcos block party last week, the upcoming two-set show at Tonic Lounge in north Austin (this Friday), and the surprise show at Beauty Bar this coming Tuesday, we’ve had our hands full.  Several new songs have sprung up in the process, and we’re having fun playing both old and new stuff.  This video will give you an idea of what practice can be like.  Enjoy!

P.S. There’s been some talk of trying to stream our rehearsals- what do you think?  Hope to see you at the upcoming shows!

Hello everyone, I’m back in civilization for a bit to make this post. We’ve been holed up in a barn since Saturday recording tracks for the record. It’s been very cold and very exciting. Drums have been tracked for “Bottom of the Gun” and “White Light Heat”. We finished electric guitars on “White Light Heat” last night and Matt laid down some nice thick delayed guitar on “Bottom of the Gun”. The vibe out here is great and it’s coming through on the tracks. Dark, woody and raw. Matt and I have been playing with video cameras and a projector Johnny was kind enough to bring out. Channeling our inner psychedelia. Matt has also been filming constantly and we’ll get some of that up here soon. I’m trying to post small snippets to twitter whenever possible. Until next time, here is a clip of us cutting some vocals.

when the drummer is away?  Synth.  Lots of it.  haha-  Actually, we got together in Zac’s absence to work out some of the new songs acoustically in preparation for some upcoming recording sessions.  With no fat beats to rely on, we’re forced to figure out the more subtle themes and movement of each song.  That was the idea, anyways.  We figured out some new sections to songs, and brought in our friend Johnny, a talented and creative writer among other things, to listen and perhaps create some short stories and themes to inspire and accompany the music.  I brought my newly beefed up recording rig to capture what happened.  The following excerpt comes from the later part of the evening when the acoustic guitars went away and the synths came out.  The drum machine sound comes from Chris’s Omnichord.  Just a jam- check it out

Local news site newstreamz.com reviewed our 2007 album, Big Light. Check it out at http://newstreamz.com/2009/01/28/record-reviews-three-more-san-marcos-bands. They have a great “scene” section that covers a lot of local music- cool.

We’re not playing shows for a couple months, but rest assured that we’re not letting Three Leaf fall. We’re practicing more and working harder than ever! We don’t want to play another show until we can reveal a totally new set of songs. Refraining from playing shows frees us up to concentrate on nurturing all this new material.

Don’t know if the band will ever play this, but here’s an mp3 I recorded a couple weeks ago- enjoy.

We’d like to thank everyone who came to the Lucy’s show on Friday. If you came to the show and you’re reading this website, two gold stars for you as a fan of the band. I’ll put up some pictures from the show soon (email me if you have any) and possibly even a little video. We went into the studio again on Sunday and were there from 10 in the morning until 5 in the morning on Monday. A lot got done, we’re finished with tracking and on to mixing. We’re also working on recording a few other songs on our own, mixing them at the studio with the others, and gently working it all together into a new EP. It’s all very exciting and we can’t wait to finish it up. Next show is at Tantra with Carley Wolf, music should start around 9pm or so. Here’s a video of the last show at The Triple Crown, enjoy!
